Additional Ingredient Background Check

Propolis

This is a sticky, greenish brown product produced by the bees when they combine a sap plus their own excretions and beeswax, which they eventually use a coating to construct their hives. It was used thousand of years ago to treat abscesses, heal wounds and tumors and fight infections. Now a days, it is still use in medicines and in cosmetics, because of its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral and wound healing properties.

After your double-cleanser, toner, (and essences, ampoule or serum) pump out an ample amount of this gel and apply gently to face and neck or any part of the body in need of a treatment. Pat skin for better absorption. You can use it in the morning or in the evening. Follow it with your favorite sunscreen for daytime use.

For drier skin: one blog post adviced to mix a few drops of Passionfruit Oil or Baobab Oil or Argan Oil in a 3-4 pumps of the Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel, and apply it as a moisturizer.

If you think you have allergies to bees or too bee products, patch test this gel first before using.

Around 300BC, Egyptians used propolis as an antiseptic and an ointment. Propolis was also used to embalm the mummies to keep them from decaying. Dr Remy Chauvin in France was curious about how no microbes are found in bees. Finally, in 1965, he discovered that propolis works as a naural antibiotic. Propolis has been consumed throughout the history, and no significant harmful effect has been reported. It contains large quantity of organic and miniral matter and 104 other components. Mineral, amino acids, lipids, organic acids, and flavanoids in propolis are very important for cell metabolism and terpenoid compounds in propolis have anticancer effects. Propolis contains significant amount, more than 100 kinds of flavanoids that have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunomodulatroy effects. They reduce prostaglandin production to half which cause the inflammation. Qeurcetin, also type of flavanoids, prevents cancer cells from replication. Unlike honey, propolis is obtained in small amount and cannot be artificially  synthesized. Therefore, it has been valued for overcoming fatigue and used to treat many symptoms.*from COSRX
