Our skin sheds off dead skin cells everyday. It is a process that you and I do not notice but it happens normally. After 28 days, you get yourself a fresh and new layer of skin. 28 days is quite a long wait, and until then, your pores had clogged, not only because of the dead skin cells lingering in your skin, but also because of dirt, oil and makeup all mixed together to make a nice grimy paste to clog your pores.
This is when, you notice your skin looking so dull and dry when in fact, you have been regularly moisturizing! No matter how expensive or effective your skincare products are, it cannot sip in deep into your pores to work its miracles because it is trapped. The following steps come into handy and will rescue your skin.
Step 1: Mix your favorite Cleansing Oil like Banila Co Clean It Zero and a scrub from Skinfood's Black Sugar Strawberry Mask Off. Make a runny paste and apply evenly into your dry skin (with your skincare products and BB Creams on). You should be able to smoothly scrub your skin from mm to mm. If not, sprinkle a little bit of water until you can nicely scrub. Do this 2-3 minutes and leave it for another 1-2 minutes. Rinse.
TIP: if you are wearing heavy makeup, I suggest you get rid off your makeup first using your cleansing oil and then proceed to the above step.
Step 2: Now, squeeze an ample amount of COSRX Low pH Good Morning Cleanser. Make a lather and wash your face properly to get rid off excess oils and grimes from step 1.
Step 3: While face is still moist, apply few pumps of Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner. Tap it in for better absorption. Toners balance you skin pH making way for active ingredients to be absorbed best.
Step 4: Go get your favorite sheet mask, like Innisfree's It's Real Squeeze Mask – Green Tea and apply it snugly into your face. Relax for 15-20 minutes. Sheet masks are good skin rescuers. Since they are infused with great essences, they directly force their way to your pores. And since your pores are unclogged from good scrubbing, your skin just slurps up all those goodies!
Step 5: Get rid off the sheet mask. You can tap in the remaining liquids from the pack into your skin.
Optional specially for dry skin: once all had dried out, follow with your moisturizer or sleeping mask.
Step 6: Wake up with a radiant, smooth and plump skin!
You can do this 1-2x a week depending on your skin needs. Older adults above 40 need to exfoliate more often compared to younger ones. But also keep in mind that exfoliating more than 2x a week could also damage your skin. Be reminded that your skin is sensitive, the dead skin cells are there for a purpose. They protect your skin from outer stimulus. If you exfoliate too often, you might be getting rid off normal oils which in turn just make your skin drier and duller and oilier.
It is how you do things that you achieve a nice radiant skin, and of course using the right product for the right type of skin.
Have fun and enjoy this tip! Until the next BeauTips!
