Important Tips In Washing Your Face

When it comes to washing face, everybody for sure has their own way of doing it. This blog is not telling you that your method is wrong, but giving you additional tips you might want to consider or try for the sake of having a beautiful skin. Because that's our goal isn't it? And besides, it is always fun trying something new.

In Asia, particulary in Japan and in Korea there is something called as double cleansing. This is a common practice and could date back many centuries ago as part of their beauty culture. This method uses two different cleansers in tandem to get rid off makeup and dirt accumulated in a day

The first step is called Pre Cleansing:

Usually uses an oil based cleanser that removes makeup, sunscreens and other creams applied onto the face in a day. This oil cleanser is specially formulated to emulsify, turning itself into a milk-like consistency once combined with warm water, making it easier for dirt and makeup to slodge off. They come in different forms: liquid, cream and even in wipes. They are easys to use and can be carried around, depending which product you prefer.

How to use:

Pump out or scoop out ample amount of the oil and massage all over dry face including eye area. After a minute or so, sprinkle face with warm water and start massaging the oil again until it becomes milky. When done, rinse off with warm water and finish with few splashes of cold water. Pat dry. Do this in the evening or in the morning too if you wish, and follow it  with a Cleanser.

The second step of the double cleansing is the Cleansing:

This uses water based cleanser right after the oil based cleanser. It is intended to get rid off sweat and dirt escaped by the Pre Cleanser, purifying your skin further and preparing it to absorb nourishment you get from the next skin product applied.

Cleansers usually come in a tube that lathers up really nice once massaged in the skin. And depending on your skin problem, you can also find foaming cleansers that specially target those skin concerns, like for example foaming cleansers for acne or for large pores.

How to use:

Squirt out a pea size of the cleanser, lather in your hands for few seconds and spread in the face. Massage it thoroughly paying extra attention to your problem zones. After 1 or 2 minutes, rinse with warm water and just like the Pre Cleanser, splash your face with cold water to finish. This helps to tighten up your pores. Pat the skin with towel to dry or like some Koreans do, just let the water dries out by patting with your hands and immediately apply Toner with your damp skin. (Toners? Let's discuss this later)

That's just it for double cleansing. It is a little consuming in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it isn't that bad at all. I tell you, it is even meditating and a relaxing process. I promise!

Facial cleansing is the foundation of a beautiful and clear skin, so don't skip. Just imagine the dirt and makeup clogging your pores overnight, when you forgoe these steps. So let's take a good habit of washing our faces properly for the quest of a clear skin!

Pssssst extra tip for you!

If you can't find Korean Pre Cleansers in your area, try some other oils instead. Coconut oil is a good example. The cons: unlike the premade Pre Cleansers, ordinary oils do not emulsify, so they could leave your skin with an oily feeling. But every problem has a solution, just make sure you follow it with a Cleanser, then problem solved! :)

Until next time, hope you find this post interesting. Let me hear it from you.
