Tips in Applying and Reapplying Sunscreens

We all know that applying a sunscreen is a must in the morning skin care routine. You’ll never want to skip this out to prevent skin damages like wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and sunburns caused by the harmful sun rays. Sunscreens are the best anti-aging product, so let's go apply!

Applying it daily as a part of your morning routine is not actually that difficult. Take ample amount and apply on the face at the end of your skin care routine before your makeup. Tip: pat your sunscreen instead of massaging it in all directions. This creates an even application without missing areas of the face and for better absorption as well! Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it, and later you won’t even want to leave the house without wearing a sunscreen 😊

That part is easy, right? But what makes it difficult is when you need to reapply your sunscreen. Sunscreens are supposed to be reapplied every 2-3 hours! If you are like me, who is not bothered of wearing bare skin or just a few strokes of cushion, then reapplying is easy. But what about reapplying it over makeup? Okay, this is a little complicated, but everything is possible.

Reapplying over makeup

  1. The easiest way is using a cushion compact with SPF’s like Missha M Magic Cushion Moisture SPF 50+/PA+++. These kinds are handy and super easy to use. It comes with a sponge and a mirror which you can use anywhere and anytime of the day! But please do not just depend on the Cushions for your SPF because, the sun protection provided by your cushion is not enough when you are exposed to the sun for longer periods. Make sure you applied ample amount of sunscreen as a base and just re touching with a cushion.
  2. Additional layer of cushion or sunscreen over a makeup could sometimes lead to cakey complexion specially to those with dull and rough skin. To prevent this, freshen up your skin a little bit by dabbing a cotton pad soaked with a toner to areas on the face that needs a little erasing. Just very slightly wipe off the makeup. The greatest advantage in using toner instead of water is that, the toner gives your skin an extra moisture while removing a layer of your makeup. Try Mamonde Rose Tone After that, apply your sunscreen or cushion. You’ll see you skin so much refreshed when you do this! Promise.
  3. You can also use other convenient products like sun sticks, or sun sprays to reapply your SPF.

Another question you might ask is, is reapplying necessary?  Well personally, me too is lazy when it comes to reapplying. I have my personal rule.  It all depends on what I do and where I am. If you are out in the sun or enjoying water activities, please make sure to reapply your sunscreen as often as possible! If you’re just staying at home or inside your work place, and for as long as you made a good sunscreen base in your morning routine, you may opt to not reapply. My favorite way of reapplying though, is through the cushion. I go in and out the house, so going out means retouching. If I stay longer under the sun, I follow tip number 2. And besides, I never go out without a hat! Double protection!😊

Wait, before you go, never forget to protect your lips as well. Check out Tony Moly Mini Berry Lip Balm, this has SPF 15, moisturizes your skin and super cute too!

Enjoy the sun!
